Nevada LeCounte ‘23
Nevada LeCounte, DNP, RN, CMSRN, PCCN, CNE, CHSE, proudly earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of North Georgia in 2023, where her doctoral project focused on simulation-based strategies to improve early recognition of patient deterioration. She brings over 16 years of nursing experience in critical care, emergency, and medical-surgical nursing, along with more than 12 years as a nursing educator. Nevada serves as Associate Professor of Nursing and Simulation Specialist at the College of Coastal Georgia, where she leads simulation education for nursing and radiologic science students and develops innovative, evidence-based learning experiences that prepare students for real-world practice.
A nationally recognized leader in healthcare simulation, Nevada is a 2025 participant in the National League for Nursing’s Leadership Institute for Simulation Educators. She presents nationally and internationally on simulation, interprofessional education, and nursing education, and is a leader in integrating simulation into radiography education, an emerging and impactful strategy in the field. Nevada is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing, focusing her research on preparing ICU nurses for end-of-life family communication.
Nevada oversees all simulation-based education at her institution and is deeply committed to faculty development, mentoring colleagues in simulation design, facilitation, and debriefing to elevate teaching practices. She credits her education at UNG with inspiring her commitment to leadership, innovation, and student success and is honored to represent her alma mater as a member of the 2025 UNG 20 Under 40 Class.
