Zack Agerton ‘13
Zack Agerton graduated Cum Laude from the University of North Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. He began his career with The Ability Experience, directing nationwide volunteer construction projects, leading a charity cycling team across the country, and coordinating an alternative Spring Break program in Guatemala, expanding service opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Zack’s dedication to education and service took him to the South Pacific as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Samoa, where he lived for over two years at a rural primary school. There, he taught English and Science across grade levels and supported the coordination of the program’s 50th anniversary celebration. Later, Zack joined TreesCharlotte as Events and Administrative Coordinator, where he managed more than 50 community partnerships and executed over 40 volunteer-driven events annually planting and distributing nearly 6,000 trees each year. He now serves as Volunteer Program Manager at the Humane Society of Charlotte, where his innovative strategies have strengthened volunteer engagement and retention, resulting in a 6,000-hour increase in service contributions. In addition to his role, Zack also serves on multiple leadership committees within the organization, further shaping its long-term impact.
Beyond his professional achievements, Zack remains passionate about sports and community involvement. A former member of the UNG rugby club, he now plays for and serves on the leadership board of the Charlotte Barbarians RFC. His athletic pursuits include completing the Marine Corps Marathon in 2014 and cycling across New York in 2025, raising over $10,000 to support individuals with disabilities. Through every chapter of his journey, Zack has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to mission-based work and giving back to the communities that have shaped his life.
